The last week featured a plethora of scene-stealing Sneaker News; on the heels of Kobe’s 5th Championship, we got a first look at LeBron’s eighth signature shoe – until Kobe brought a new colorway of the Zoom Kobe V for the Championship Parade. LeBron’s free-agency in-decision has been the #1 topic in NBA news but a youngster named John Wall has a set future for now, as he was drafted first overall while being chosen to represent the Reebok Basketball label. The celebs were out in full force, as three of the best MC’s of this decade – Kanye, Hova, and Eminem – were out and about in some notable sneakers. Nike SB and Nike Running did what it could to get some notice, as we got a look at some early-2011 Nike SB releases, a sea of Air Max 2011 colorways, and an Air Max 24/7 in a familiar colorway.

But in the end, it was Jordan Brand who stole the spotlight and ruled the week; Sneaker News gave you a look into the next Air Jordan VII Retro and an OG AJ IX  while confirming the releases of some big-time retros like Air Jordan III White Cement and the ‘Playoffs’ Air Jordan XIII. But surprisingly, it wasn’t the Retros or even the OG Jordan Brand apparel that caused the most buzz; Sneaker News gave you notice of two Jordan hybrid projects – one involved Air Max and the other a two-model hybrid with Collezione Package pairings. All year long, the Citrus 9s were much anticipated. Many sneakerheads were counting down the days on the calendars, waiting for July 3rd to come. However, we have some breaking news. Foot Locker has moved up the release date two days early to July 1st, which just so happens to be a Thursday. Thursday is an unusual day for an Air Jordan release considering that most Jordan’s are released on a Saturday. For now, this release date change only applies to Foot Locker, but if any other retailers follow, we will let you know. This is great news for most people, but it could be bad news for some trying to save up with two less days. Look for these July 1st at Foot Locker locations and Footlocker.com

Hybrids have caught our attention lately, haven’t they? No word on whether Clarks had any part of this production, but we can expect this colorway to drop in Fall 2010 (if they don’t get scrapped, that is). We just got word that the White Cement 3s and the Playoffs 13s will get a 2011 release. In addition to those two, Jordan Brand will also release these 7s. This Air Jordan VII Retro comes in a White/Orion Blue/Black/Infrared colorway. Just when we thought that Jordan Brand will ease up a bit, their going even harder.

At the first look, these might look like the Air Jordan 7 “Pacific Blue” that released back in 2006. But, the colorway is entirely different from the pacific’s. These 7s sports a nice and clean white leather upper. Orion blue and infrared accents are evenly split onto the sole, tongue, and heel. The last time we saw a pair of 7s was in 2009, so it’s nice to have it back. What do you think of this latest Air Jordan VII Retro?

Yesterday we got the much awaited confirmation of the white cement 3s. We all know what that shoe means to sneakerheads, so it was a special day. Well today we got another confirmation as the Playoff 13s have been confirmed for a release. Just like the white cements, these will release sometime in 2011. These aren’t going to get as much hype as the white cements, but it’s still a big release. These 13s are dubbed “Playoffs” because Michael Jordan wore these during the 1998 NBA Playoffs. These will certainly be overshadowed by the Flints, but these will be one of the spotlights in 2011. These are expected to release January 2011, which is a good 7 months away. So, do you plan to cop?

Here’s a shoe that’ll have youngsters excited for a blast from the past and the older Nike heads screaming “WHY?”.
